The Koi Effect - Nishikigoi

The koi carp has always symbolized strength, perseverance, and transformation. In Eastern tradition, its journey upstream against the current represents the ability to face difficulties without losing one's direction, to navigate what life places in its path and transform it into experience. It is also a symbol of courage and determination, but its strength is not a force of aggression. It is a silent, steady force, capable of adapting to the water without stopping to advance. In the painting, the koi is captured precisely in its movement. And there is the water, which bears the mark of the passage. The tail's movement creates a wave, and that wave moves away from the koi, like a trace that endures even after the gesture is completed.

The idea arose from a trip to Japan, where I first encountered koi and their strong symbolic value. Behind their colors and movement I discovered a meaning tied to strength, perseverance, courage, and transformation.
