The Separation of Cinderella

The work depicts the vision of a contemporary Cinderella, engaged in living the stillness of her caregiving and cleaning work while her gaze escapes beyond the glass of a window in those four walls that confine her. In this transfiguration, the archetype is stripped of its miraculous component to reveal a harsher truth: social isolation. Here the inversion of the myth occurs: those characters who in the original fairy tale would have had to rescue her and weave her redemption are here absent, or rather distracted. They are figures trapped in their own affairs, absorbed by their own urgencies and individual trajectories, too busy to notice the marginality that surrounds them. With this I represent the fragmentation of empathy in modern society. The 'cleaning woman' no longer awaits a divine or magical intervention, but becomes a witness to a collective void in which she will realize that she must face the obstacles alone.
