Yellow, White, GrayI chose my childhood plush toy to represent the illusory concept of the self as a unique and immutable entity, because in reality we are a stratification of experiences and changes. My teddy bear, therefore, is a tool to explore this fragmentation: being our first emotional mirror, it is an object that changes skin along with us, going from an inseparable companion to a worn relic. I wanted to represent it split into two parts to evoke the dichotomy between memory and reality, between the nostalgia for the 'new' and the concreteness of the 'lived'. The orange thread represents the futile attempt to sew these two halves back together: the interrupted seam symbolizes the impossibility of forcing coherence in a self that is, by its nature, a multitude of coexisting fragments. Accepting that the thread is broken means renouncing a static identity and recognizing that we are the result of all these seemingly unconnected pieces that live together inside us.
