White“Heracles Among the Books” is a sculpture created through 3D modeling and printing, designed to fit physically inside a bookshelf. Heracles’ face emerges from among the volumes like a fragment of classical sculpture preserved between the pages, creating a direct dialogue between form, material, and knowledge. The work’s distinctive proportions—narrow and vertical—define its compositional function: the sculpture does not merely stand alongside the books but becomes part of the bookshelf itself. The figure’s white color, set against the surrounding surfaces, accentuates the sensation of an ancient presence resurfacing in a contemporary space.
The idea stems from the desire to take classical art out of the spaces traditionally reserved for sculpture and bring it into one of the most intimate spaces associated with culture: the bookshelf. Heracles, a symbol of strength and a central figure in Greek mythology, is thus placed among the books, as if he himself were a fragment of knowledge to be preserved. The compression of his face between the volumes deliberately creates an encounter between two different forms of memory: that of sculpture, entrusted to matter, and that of the word, preserved within the pages. The work thus arises from the convergence of classical art, literature, and contemporary technology. 3D printing allows an image from antiquity to take on a new function and inhabit an everyday space, transforming the bookshelf into a small exhibition space.
