While the self dissolves

The vampire as the ultimate figure of the illusion of the self. A creature that refuses the dissolution of the self yet is, at the same time, excluded from life. It survives in a parasitic condition, feeding on the life of others in order not to succumb. Vampires as opposition to becoming, a desperate negation of time as the absolute dissolver. But while death ends the natural cycle of the human ego, the life of the undead is also a total illusion of the persistence of the self, reduced to a beastly grin. The center of the figure, however, is the woman as representation of a contemporary world that, in a desperate gesture, is willing to accept non-life to embrace the illusion of the self. Unfortunately the result can only be a futile sense of despair.
