White, Black“Heracles on a Stand” is a sculpture created through 3D modeling and printing that reinterprets the bust of the classical hero in a contemporary exhibition format. The sculptural fragment, suspended above a minimalist base, deliberately retains the incomplete appearance of the ancient artifact. The white of the figure contrasts with the black of the stand, creating a clear visual separation between the classical image and the contemporary structure that supports it.
The idea stems from the desire to transform the archaeological fragment into a contemporary object, keeping the connection to classical sculpture visible without attempting to reconstruct it in its entirety. Heracles is presented as a suspended artifact: the face, beard, and part of the torso emerge in their incompleteness, while the stand openly declares its nature as an exhibit. The fragmentary nature is therefore not concealed but becomes part of the work and its language. 3D printing allows for a new encounter between the memory of antiquity and contemporary production: a sculpture that retains the iconographic power of the original but changes in scale, material, and context. The stand completes this transition, transforming Heracles from an artifact to be observed into a presence to be brought into everyday spaces.
