White, Black“Venus de Milo on a Stand” is a sculpture created through 3D modeling and printing that reinterprets one of the most recognizable images of classical art in an intimate and contemporary context. The bust of Venus is isolated and suspended above a minimalist base, transforming the classical fragment into an autonomous presence. The softness of the forms and the figure’s white color contrast with the rigorous geometry of the black stand, creating a dialogue between classical harmony and contemporary expression. The reduced scale allows the sculpture to move beyond its museum-like monumentality and enter everyday spaces, while preserving the power and elegance of its image intact.
The work stems from a desire to bring classical beauty into the present, ideally removing it from the distance of the museum and transforming it into a presence with which we can coexist. The Venus de Milo represents an ideal of beauty that has endured through the centuries precisely because of its incompleteness. The absence of her arms is not interpreted as a deficiency to be reconstructed, but as part of her identity: the fragment itself becomes a complete form. The display accentuates this idea by isolating and suspending the figure like a contemporary artifact. 3D printing thus becomes the meeting point between memory, technology, and classical tradition: a contemporary tool through which an image from antiquity can be reproduced, reinterpreted, and brought back into today’s spaces.
